| | 02/14/2007 | This movie is virtually a true story as it has happened many times over in so many
places around the world. Not only where American GI's are stationed but many
other foreign troops for that matter. There is always the typical obstacles such
as permission from the C.O, host government, red tape, language, culture, etc.
This is a must see. Very enjoyable inspite of its unfortunate tragic end. |

| | an underrated classic | gene43 04/25/2007 | | I first saw HELEN OF TROY as a 13 year old and was enthralled. After viewing it recently on DVD I find it has lost none of it's magical powers. It was the only 'ancient spectacle' of the '50s that possesed not only spectacle and charm but also a highly romantisized atmosphere of this ancient world. And without Max Steiners PERFECT score, this couldn't have been achieved. |
