  It's 1881 and famous bank/train robber Jesse James (Brad Pitt), at age 34, has had a turnover of gang members from retirement or having been killed. Even brother Frank (Sam Shepard) retired after the gang's last heist. Jesse even has a "day" job as a respected businessman using the name of Thomas Howard and has a trophy wife, Zee (Mary-Louise Parker), and two children. But the restless Jesse is putting together a new gang made up of second-rate gangsters, which includes young Bob (Casey Affleck) who has collected Jesse James clippings and stories since he was a small boy and idolized Jesse. Another problem that Jesse has is that there is a large bounty on him, dead or alive. As time passes, Bob becomes jealous of Jesse and with the reward he could receive, he decides to kill Jesse, which he does. An interesting study of the two men that is based on Ron Hansen's historical novel of the same name. The film received two Academy Award nominations including Best Supporting Actor (Affleck).

  This story involves people in four cities showing how we are all interconnected despite differences in geography and race. It begins with a random shooting in Morocco by a young boy that leaves Susan (Cate Blanchett) bleeding badly. As American tourists, Susan and husband Richard (Brad Pitt) are on a trip hoping to repair their marriage, and now Richard fights to keep Susan alive. The scene switches to Tokyo where deaf-mute teenager Chieko (Rinko Kikuchi) engages in sexual acts as a outlet to deal with her mother's suicide. Finally, the scene cuts back to San Diego where Richard and Susan's illegal alien housekeeper Amelia (Adriana Barraza) faces the problem of what to do with their children who she is tending while Richard and Susan are away. Amelia's son is getting married in Mexico, and she opts to take the American children across the border for the wedding. But, as luck would have it, problems present themselves when the group attempts to re-cross the border. The film received an Oscar for Best Original Score; five other nominations were received, including Best Picture, Director, Supporting Actor (Rinko Kikuchi), and Supporting Actress (Adriana Barraza).

The film won three Academy Awards and was nominated for 10 others which included Best Picture, Actor (Pitt), Supporting Actress (Taraji P. Henson for her role as Queenie), and Director.

  Beautiful Montana scenery around the Big Blackfoot River sets off this drama about the Maclean family during the early 20th century.   This bizarre thriller combines two homicide detectives, David Mills and William Summerset (Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman), from different generations and races, who try to put an end to the crimes of a vicious serial killer who bases his murders on the Seven Deadly Sins. As the experienced detective, Summerset tries to get inside the mind of the killer by studying the Seven Deadly Sins. Mills is less experienced and does not understand Summerset's reasoning.   Cannot say enough about this film. Well acted, and truly could not have been cast better. Right and wrong; the age old battle,comes to age in this wonderfully plotted movie. Must see if you like layered stories. Resonated with struggles of a sense of justice achieved. Watch this!!!
