The film won eight Academy Awards, including Best Director (Bob Fosse), Best Actress (Liza Minnelli), and Best Supporting Actor (Joel Grey). Two other nominations were received, including Best Picture.

Cole Porter songs add to the enjoyment.

During their excursion, the young prince learns important lessons of life from not only the pilot but from others they meet, including a Fox (Gene Wilder) and a slithery Snake (Bob Fosse) as well.

Eileen Aspires to be an actress, and now Ruth pretends to be Eileen in her writings, which involve Eileen's misadventures with strange men. It works, and both find fame, fortune, and love. Highlight: Jack Lemmon and Betty Garrett perform "It's Bigger than You and Me." Screenplay by Blake Edwards.
