1941 1979 PG, 118 min. Genre: Comedy / Drama
Director: Steven Spielberg Cast: Dan Aykroyd, Ned Beatty, John Belushi, Treat Williams, Nancy Allen, Robert Stack, Christopher Lee, Slim Pickens, Elisha Cook Jr., Warren Oates, Lorraine Gary, Bobby DiCicco, Murray Hamilton, Tim Matheson, Toshiro Mifune
This film takes the events at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, and then goes on to a make-believe story of the Japanese attack on Los Angeles. General Joseph Stilwell (Robert Stack) is in command of the military protecting California's coast, and Sgt. Tree (Dan Aykroyd) is assigned the job of installing a 40mm anti-aircraft gun in homeowner Ward Douglas' (Ned Beatty) backyard. When California is attacked, Hollywood Boulevard lies in ruins, and craziness is experienced by the military and civilians as well. Special effects really help this film.

In 2003, film historian Richard Schickel added footage to expand the film to better reflect Fuller's desired product.
