Academy Award nominations were received for Best Picture, Actor, Director, Supporting Actor (Jaye Davidson), and Film Editing. An Oscar was won for Best Writing. Outstanding acting by all.

He agrees to haul a secret cargo bound for Earth, and takes off with two cohorts Mike Pucci and Cindy (Stephen Dorff and Debi Mazar). Engine troubles, space pirates, and a cargo that is an army of robots to take over the Earth add to the "fun".
