  Johnny witnesses the slaughter of his family by a gang led by "The Cat." Twenty years later, Johnny (Johnny Mack Brown) still has fears related to the incident. But, his brave action saving the people on a stagecoach that was being robbed results in his being appointed Marshal. He confronts his fears when he takes on the gang of stagecoach robbers that is led by a man emulating "The Cat." The leader turns out to be Johnny's brother who survived the family's slaughter and was raised by "The Cat." An unusual Western.

  While traveling on the clipper from Honolulu to San Francisco, Paul Essex (Louis Jean Heydt) dies, and the police rule the death a suicide. Charlie Chan (Sidney Toler) investigates his friend's death, and the clues lead to a San Francisco Fair at Treasure Island and a spiritualist, Dr. Zodiac (Gerald Mohr). Charlie and son Jimmy (Victor Sen Yung) get help on the case from an illusionist, Rhadini (Cesar Romero), who wants to expose Dr. Zodiac as a phony who threatens his clients with blackmail. The investigation reaches a high point when a mystic, Eve (Pauline Moore), plans to use her psychic powers to name the killer.

  In this film version of Al Capp's comic strip, Jeff York takes on the role of that elusive bachelor Li'l Abner on whom Daisy Mae (Martha O'Driscoll) has set her eyes and determines to wed. When Li'l Abner is told he has just 24 hours to live, he kisses Daisy Mae–an act that is the same as proposing in Dog Patch. Too late, Abner learns that the medical prognosis is wrong. Now, what is he to do? As if that were not bad enough, Li'l Abner is trapped in the woods and saved by Wendy Wilecat (Kay Sutton) who performs her service on the promise that Li'l Abner will marry her. Now, how will Li'l Abner get out of his predicament of being engaged to two women?
