This film has developed a cult following and is the story of hungry corpses coming back as zombies to kill and eat human beings. The story begins with Barbara (Judith O'Dea) and her brother Johnny (Russell Streiner) visiting a Pennsylvania cemetery and being attacked by the zombies. Johnny is killed, and Barbara takes refuge in a farmhouse where she joins six other people. In a futile attempt for survival, they try to keep their sanity while warding off the zombies. But, nothing appears to work, and radio news reports tell about devastation occurring in the eastern United States.

Now, Barbara tries to find safety by joining six other people in a farmhouse, and they become trapped while the zombies hunger for human flesh. As tensions rise, dangers increase–both inside and outside the farmhouse.
