This story relates the tale of young Charlotte Bruckner (Mia Farrow) who visits her Navy sea captain father Capt. Bruckner (Jason Robards) on the island of Bora Bora. While visiting, Charlotte falls for Samoan chief Matangi (Dayton Ka'ne), and they enter into an affair in the midst of a coming hurricane. Disaster strikes, and these lovers are not destined to live happily ever after.
