Beaufort (beautiful fort) is a war-torn 12th-century castle that, since 1982, served as Israel's most northern fort in Lebanon. Now, in 2000, Beaufort is being attacked, and its 22-year-old commander Liraz (Oshri Cohen) faces the necessity of abandoning the fort following a bomb explosion. His superiors tell him not to retaliate, but Liraz is well aware of the futility of his situation as the Hezbollah continues its shelling of the fort. An Academy Award nomination was received for Best Foreign Language Film.
