After his daughter Christiane's (Edith Scob) face is disfigured in a car accident, a surgeon, Dr. Genessier (Pierre Brasseur), begins a series of kidnappings of young girls. His goal is to obtain a new face for Christiane. Thus, one-by-one, kidnapped girls' faces are grafted onto Christiane. Although the effort proves futile and the kidnapped girls die, Genessier continues his search for "donors."
