  Travis Holloway (Courtney B. Vance) is a Black soldier stationed in England during World War II. Travis begins an affair with a White married woman, Maggie Leyland (Kerry Fox). When her husband Edward (Ciaran Hinds) returns from the warfront, the affair is discovered. Edward accuses Travis of rape–a crime punishable by hanging–and Travis finds himself on trial for his life because of racial bigotry.
