Computer genius Bristol (Doug Hutchinson) masterminds a robbery of $42 million in gold bouillon only to have his partner, getaway driver Jaste (Robert Pastorelli), take off with the loot. But just as quickly, Jaste is picked up by the feds and suffers a fatal heart attack before federal agent Edgar Clenteen (David Morse) can get all the info on Bristol. So Clenteen, hoping Brisol believes Jaste shared info, puts an illegal tracking device on Jaste's cellmate, Alvin (Jamie Foxx), and lures Bristol into the open.
