On the way, the crew must fill in the time: a crewmember falls in love with a robot; the captain swallows an egg, which turns out to be an alien; and so it goes. Dorothy Stratten, the Playboy Playmate, plays Galaxina the robot, and Stratten was murdered around the time of this film's premiere.

The Blue Fairy (Lainie Kazan) appears on the scene and grants Geppetto's wish by turning Pinocchio into a living marionette. But, Pinocchio must prove himself to be a good boy and must never lie or his nose will grow. Problems lie ahead, but, by story's end, Pinocchio proves that he has a good soul.
