Now he, France, and France's mother (Therese Giehse) are on the run from both Resistance agents as well as the Germans. Fine directing and musical score highlight this film that doesn't shed a favorable light on the French Resistance.

Guido's father dies before Guido and Anita reach Tuscany, and during the funeral, family members gather to honor their deceased patriarch and end up in the midst of petty arguments.
