Great songs by Doris, and the film won an Academy Award for Best Writing and was nominated for five others, including Best Actor.

Although Duke tries to find ways to free Chester from his debt to Widow Hawkins, she, in turn, tries to get Chester to propose to her. It turns out that Widow Hawkins owns the most valuable property in town, and by story's end, Chester and saloon owner Jake Frame (Gordon Jones) fight a gun duel.
