This reenactment of the World War II Battle of the Bulge involves Lt. Joe Costa (Jack Palance) and his platoon following the inept leadership of Captain Erskine Cooney (Eddie Albert) who has attained his rank due to political connections. When Cooney orders Costa and his troops into an impossible position in Belgium, they rebel in an attempt to save their own lives during a German counterattack.
