Mad scientist Jacob (Erich von Stroheim) inseminates a prostitute with sperm from a ruthless murderer. The product of this unholy union, Alraune (Hildegard Neff), grows up to be a beautiful, but unstable, woman who attracts men and sends them to death through murder or suicide. When she finally meets the man of her dreams, the madly jealous Jacob will have none of that.
