  After Pete's (Leslie Nielsen) plane crash lands near her backwoods home, Tammy (Debbie Reynolds) and her moonshiner grandfather (Walter Brennan) nurse him back to health. Pete does recover and returns to his upper-crust family. Then, Tammy's grandfather is sent to jail, and Tammy goes to Pete's home where her home cooking and enthusiastic attitude transform his relatives–and Pete, as well–into a happy family. The song "Tammy" received an Oscar nomination for Best Song.
