  This tale begins years ago when Santa Claus was chosen to be the hero to children and deliver presents on Christmas Eve. Claus (David Huddleston) and his wife Anya (Judy Cornwell) are caught in a blizzard and are taken to the North Pole with their reindeer. The elves greet them, and Claus takes over the job of Santa Claus. But, one elf, Patch (Dudley Moore), later leaves for New York where he works for evil toy maker B.Z. (John Lithgow) who wants to destroy Santa Claus and take over the distribution of gifts. Will Patch save Santa Claus and the Christmas spirit?

She loses the baby, leaves the mansion, and finds work as a farmhand. She falls in love with Angel Clare (Oliver Milburn), and he returns her love. But, happiness is not fated to be in the future for Tess, and tragedy follows in this good made-for-TV retelling of the classic Thomas Hardy story.
