  Comedy writer Jerry Falk (Jason Biggs) has broken up with his girlfriend and is now enduring a messy love affair with Amanda (Christina Ricci), which included her mother (Stockard Channing) moving in with them. Jason questions the meaning of his life and affair during conversations with his mentor, David Bobel (Woody Allen), as they stroll through Central Park. Although his advice is not always wise, David tries to guide Jason and turn his life around.

Toni now recognizes her chance for success, goes along with the sham, and even feeds David directing instructions.

Estelle objects, and then Buddy learns that the O'Nearys (Kelly MacDonald and Kevin Conway) already rent the upstairs apartment and are not about to be evicted. Despite these problems, Buddy is about to learn the importance of family, friends, and what love is really all about.
