Beverly Hills hair stylist George Roundy (Warren Beatty) ends up in bed with almost all of his clients. A few days before Election Day, 1968, George is fooling around with his mistress Felicia (Lee Grant) when he gets a phone call from ex-girlfriend Jill (Goldie Hawn) and then spends the night with her. He meets Felicia's husband Lester (Jack Warden) in an attempt to get money to buy his own salon, and Lester asks George to escort another ex-girlfriend Jackie (Julie Christie), who is now Lester's mistress, to a banquet for Nixon supporters. George agrees, but the party proves to be his downfall. Lee Grant received an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, and Jack Warden was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
