  This film adaptation of A.S. Byatt's "Morpho Eugenia" involves insect collector William Adamson (Mark Rylance) who marries into an aristocratic family, the Alibasters. Their household contains more than a few similarities to the insect world he collects, and both reflect the decadent world of Victorian England in which they reside.

However, as Sara perseveres, she becomes an inspiration for her classmates.

Brenda Blethyn received an Oscar nomination for Supporting Actress.
