This is a good biography of R.J. Mitchell (Leslie Howard), the developer of the highly successful World War II airplane (Spitfire) that contributed much by fending off the air attacks on Great Britain. Naturally, World War II propaganda runs high. Great musical score. (Leslie Howard's plane was shot down by German planes while on his way home from a diplomatic mission shortly after completion of this film.)

Director: Charles Frend Cast: John Mills, Derek Bond, James Robertson Justice, Kenneth More, Christopher Lee, Diana Churchill, Harold Warrender, Anne Firth, Reginald Beckwith, John Gregson, James McKechnie, Norman Williams, Barry Letts, Dennis Vance, Edward Lisak
British explorer Capt. Robert Falcon Scott (John Mills) sets out on an expedition in 1910 to the South Pole. Two years later, he reaches it, but, on the way home, he and his crew mysteriously die in the cold. A search party finds their remains–along with Scott's diary providing clues to their unsuccessful attempt to make it back to civilization. The fine score composed by Ralph Vaughan Williams later was transmuted to his "Sinfonia Antarctica."
