The Taste of Others 1999 N/R, 112 min. Genre: Foreign / Comedy
Director: Agnes Jaoui Cast: Anne Alvaro, Jean-Pierre Bacri, Brigitte Catillon, Alain Chabat, Agnes Jaoui, Gerard Lanvin, Anne Le Ny, Christiane Millet, Wladimir Yordanoff, Xavier De Guillebon
This comedy revolves around romantic attachments among opposites, such as stodgy businessman Castella (Jean-Pierre Bacri), who has been enduring life with neurotic wife Angelique (Christiane Millet). He is now attracted to a 40ish actress, Clara (Anne Alvaro), who, for her part, long ago gave up on love. Meanwhile, Clara's friend Manie (Agnes Jaoui) begins a romance with Castella's dyed-in-the-wool bachelor chauffeur, Bruno (Alain Chabat), before switching over to Castella's bodyguard, Franck Moreno (Gerard Lanvin). A very good romantic comedy. The film received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Film.
