A highlight of this film involves the cartoon sequence representing Katie's dream in which she swims with Tom and Jerry.

By story's end, Valerie and Paul are a couple, and Jimmy and Leslie have discovered their love for each other.

The marriage is filled with problems, and after Tess is named "Woman of the Year," Sam walks out. Now, Tess tries to mend her ways in order to win Sam back. Hepburn was nominated for an Oscar, and an Oscar was won for Best Original Screenplay.
