Told in flashback as Eleanor attends Franklin's funeral, the stories include Eleanor working for social reform, coming to the aid of polio-stricken Franklin, and learning how to deal with Franklin's domineering mother Sara (Rosemary Murphy). The stories also reflect on FDR pulling the country out of the Depression and his "Day of Infamy" speech in which he declares war on Japan. This sequel received Emmys for Best Director and Outstanding Special.

Kirby York (John Wayne), tries to teach him the realities of co-existing with the Indians and tells him that the real problem is not the Apaches, but, instead, it is the corrupt Indian agents promoting the problems. York's words go unheeded, and Thursday leads his men into a disastrous situation after which he is labeled a hero by the press.

Now, Jane works with pianist Edwin Flagg (Victor Buono) in hopes of finally gaining stardom as an adult. At the same time, she goes crazy and plots to kill Blanche. A good thriller/black comedy. Academy Award nominations went to Davis (Best Actress) and Buono (Best Supporting Actor).
