Now, Neo deals with Persephone (Monica Belucci) to get her husband Merovingian (Lambert Wilson) to release The Key Maker (Randall Duk Kim) in order to unlock "The Source" and save the citizens of Zion. The Key Maker is released, but now Merovingian sends his henchmen–the albino twins (Neil Rayment and Adrian Rayment)–out to track down Neo, Trinity, and Morpheus.

Pops Racer (John Goodman) builds cars, his sons Rex (Scott Porter) and Speed (Nicholas Elia) race them, and Mom (Susan Sarandon) gives them all moral support. But, problems develop, and Rex is killed in a crash at the Casa Cristo 5000 rally. Now, ten years later, Speed (now played by Emile Hirsch) is one of the top drivers in the World Racing League driving the Mach 5 that his father designed. E.P. Arnold Royalton (Roger Allam) makes Speed an offer to drive for him, and when Speed turns him down, things turn ugly. Royalton vows that Speed will never win another race–in fact, he is in the business of fixing races. With support from his girlfriend Trixie (Christina Ricci) and his family, Speed joins forces with former rival Racer X (Matthew Fox) and competes in the Casa Cristo 5000 rally. A win will save his family's business.
