Into the Badlands   1991     1 and a half stars    R, 89 min.
Genre: Western
Director: Sam Pillsbury
Cast: Bruce Dern, Mariel Hemingway, Helen Hunt, Dylan McDermott, Lisa Pelikan, Andrew Robinson, Adam Sanchez, Jerry Gardner, Michael J. Metzger, Steven Schwartz-Hartley

This Western/Horror flick is a little strange, to say the least. Barston (Bruce Dern) is a bounty hunter searching for an outlaw. He's tough–to the point of cutting off a frostbitten toe. Other characters enter and leave the scene in this confusing mess. Interesting cast in this made-for-cable TV film.

Roy Rogers is an aging ranch hand in this Western set in the modern day. He takes a young boy under his wing to mature the boy to manhood. Waylan Jennings' music is the highlight of this film–only for Roy Rogers fans who want to see his comeback.

Prime Target   1991     bomb    R, 85 min.

Cast: David Heavener, Tony Curtis, Isaac Hayes, Robert Reed, Andrew Robinson, Jenilee Harrison, Michael Gregory, Don Stroud

David Heavener does it all-including producer, screenwriter, music composer and performer, as well as being the director and star. It's pretty poor stuff, too, as tough cop Don Bloodstone (Heavener) escorts a crime boss (Tony Curtis) across country with complications along the way.

The series takes a slight turn for the better after the poor #2. Jack (Tim Thomerson) is yanked to his own time (2252) due to a new Trancer threat. It is determined that this strain can be traced back to 2005, so off he goes. Along with an escapee from the Trancer training program (Melanie Smith), he sets about saving the world (again). Two more of these sequels to go.
