Jay Berry Lee (Corey Sevier) dreams of buying a pony and works in his grandfather's (Wilford Brimley) general store to make money in the early 1900s. It will take a long time at his current earnings, but when chimps from a circus train escape after an accident, and a reward is offered, Jay Berry sets out to capture the chimps and get the reward. The chimps prove to be elusive, mischievous foes and his parents (Michael Ontkean and Leslie Hope) disapprove of Jay Berry's attempts to catch the chimps. Lots of lessons are learned by Jay Berry as he tries to earn the reward.
