Valentina takes cover in a traveling circus with the intent of delivering a bag of gold to Medero in San Antonio, Texas. Valentina not only falls in love with the son, Victor (Diego Luna), of the show's owner, but she becomes the star attraction as she continues to elude authorities and get to Medero.

On his trip, he touches the lives of those who have jobs in the meat packing plants–Raul (Wilmer Valderrama), Sylvia (Catalina Sandino Moreno), and Coco (Ana Claudia Talancon)–as well as restaurant workers–Amber (Ashley Johnson) and Mike (Bobby Cannavale)–and gains insights concerning health risks involved in the fast food industry.
