  When a rock band at a small-town high school performs a Satanic ritual after abducting popular Jennifer Check (Megan Fox), she becomes possessed by a demon and begins feeding off of her male classmates. Jennifer's best friend, Needy Lesnicky (Amanda Seyfried), steps in to protect her nerdy boyfriend Chip (Johnny Simmons) as well as the other boys at school, and matters reach a climax at a high school dance.

  Donna (Meryl Streep) is a single mother who runs an inn on a Greek island. Donna is not sure who the father is, but Sophie has found three names in Donna's old diary and has secretly invited Sam Carmichael (Pierce Brosnan), Harry Bright (Colin Firth), and Bill Austin (Stellan Skarsgard) to the wedding. Meanwhile, Donna's friends from her 1970s' band "Donna and the Dynamos" Tanya (Christine Baranski) and Rosie (Julie Walters) have come to the island for the festivities. When Sam, Harry, and Bill arrive, they are told to not reveal themselves to Donna, and a comedy of errors ensues–amidst 22 ABBA songs.

  Key moments in the lives of nine women are told in a series of 10-minute vignettes. The women include prisoner Sandra (Elpidia Carrillo) waiting for her children to visit, ex-wife Lorna (Amy Brenneman) attending her ex-husband's wife's funeral, mother and daughter Maggie and Maria (Glenn Close and Dakota Fanning) having a picnic at a graveside, and Ruth who is thinking about having an affair. Other stories involve Diana (Robin Wright Penn) running into an old boyfriend, cancer patient Camilla (Kathy Baker) preparing for surgery, teenage Samantha (Amanda Seyfried) caring for her invalid father, and Sonia (Holly Hunter) who is upset with her cheating boyfriend. Good acting.
