Suffering from failed professional and personal lives, former college roommates Miles (Paul Giamatti) and Jack (Thomas Haden Church) take a trip through California's wine country. But, while Miles plans to play golf and drink wine, Jack has very different plans: he is looking for one last fling before marriage and plans to drag Miles along. The film won an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay and received four other nominations, including Best Picture, Director, Supporting Actress (Virginia Madsen) as the waitress who Miles falls in love with, and Supporting Actor (Thomas Haden Church).
