  Sylvester Stallone not only starred as the title character, he wrote the original script. This is a fairy-tale story about Philadelphia boxer Rocky Balboa who experiences the American dream when he gets a chance at the World Heavyweight Championship. The movie won three Academy Awards: Best Picture, Director (John G. Avildsen), and Film Editing; it also received seven other nominations, including Best Actor (Stallone), Actress (Talia Shire), and two for Supporting Actor (Burgess Meredith and Burt Young).

  Sylvester Stallone as writer, director, and star pulls off another very enjoyable film with this version of Rocky Balboa's (Stallone) ups-and-downs in the boxing world. The story begins where "Rocky II" ended with Rocky taking the championship from Apollo Creed (Carl Weathers). Then the story jumps three years ahead. Rocky has won many matches and is now wealthy. But, problems lie ahead when he loses his title to Clubber Lang (Mr. T) who accidentally causes the death of Rocky's trainer Mickey (Burgess Meredith).
