  WELL, if you were a fan of the original 1960s television series, you may find some redeeming qualities in this film. If not, forget it, and check out another film. It is the same old story, no new twists and turns, but it will fill up an hour and a half on a rainy afternoon.

  This made-for-TV thriller/mystery is a sequel to the successful "The Night Stalker," and Darren McGavin is back as the reporter who uncovered a vampire in the original. Now in Seattle, he is after a man who strangles his victims and drains their blood. Not bad.

Her name just happens to be "Dr. Watson," and she becomes intrigued with Justin leading to further complications. This film was remade for TV as "The Return of the World's Greatest Detective."

Gig Young is excellent as the Master of Ceremonies and was awarded an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor. There were also eight nominations, including Best Actress (Jane Fonda), Supporting Actress (Susannah York), and Director.
