Solo (Giovanni Ribisi) was once a successful novelist enjoying fame and fortune, but he has lost it all on drugs and women. When his psychiatrist (Don Cheadle) recommends that Solo get a pet, he buys a small dog to bring meaning into his life. But, he has problems bonding with his new "friend"–until he meets and falls in love with a stripper, Lola (Lynn Collins), who has her own dog. Despite problems–such as Lola's larger dog biting Solo's smaller one–a new chapter in Solo's life is about to begin.
