Four London siblings Jack, Julie, Sue, and Tom (Andrew Robertson, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Alice Coulthard, and Ned Birkin) live alone in their concrete-walled home. First, their father died, and then their mother (Sinead Cusack) also died–she is secretly buried in the basement so that the kids can still get her allotment checks. The plot deals with the relationships between the four and how they can continue maintaining their secret.
