In her film debut, Suzanne Pleshette takes the role of high-school librarian Prudence Bell who travels to Rome where she meets Don Porter (Troy Donahue). When Don's girlfriend Lyda (Angie Dickinson) goes back to the U.S., Prudence and Don tour Italy's ancient ruins, museums, and fountains. They fall in love, but problems lie ahead when Lyda returns to the scene.
