After her mother dies, young Mary (Selina Gomez) is taken under the wing of washed-up pop star Dominique Blatt (Jane Lynch) who puts Mary to work in her home. Mary is ridiculed by Dominique's daughters Britt (Emily Perkins) and Bree (Katharine Isabelle), but she does spend happy times at school and with her friend Tami (Jessica Parker Kennedy). For years, Mary has had a crush on Joey (Andrew Seeley) who has become a teen star. Joey returns to town, and Mary dreams that Joey just might be the light at the end of the dark tunnel that is her life.

At the same moment that loan-officer Shawn (Selma Blair) climbs onto the roof of her bank, intent on committing suicide, a trio of bank robbers are holding-up an armored car below. As Shawn and Charlie attempt to elude the law, they discover that perhaps there is more to their relationship than either suspected.
