Alexander (Richard Burton) ascends to the throne of Macedonia after his mother (Danielle Darrieux) has the king assassinated. Thus begins the wars that put Alexander at the head of most of the known world and ends with his death in 323 BC at the age of 32. The film concentrates on his battles, and CinemaScope photography aids in the realism. Good cast with so-so results.
