The Big Fisherman   1959     1 and a half stars  User Rating      N/R, 180 min.
Genre: Drama
Director: Frank Borzage
Cast: Howard Keel, Susan Kohner, John Saxon, Martha Hyer, Herbert Lom, Ray Stricklyn, Marian Seldes, Alexander Scourby, Beulah Bondi, Jay Barney

Based on a novel by Lloyd C. Douglas, this Disney production is overly long and not well executed. It is the story of Simon Peter (a miscast Howard Keel), the "fisher of men," who started as a fisherman and became a leader in the Christian movement. Good scenery (San Fernando Valley) with three Academy Award nominations.    1 User Review
