In 1989, East German teen Alexander (Daniel Bruhl) protests against the GDR. When he is arrested, his mother (Katrin Sab) suffers a heart attack and goes into a coma. To prevent another heart attack, Alexander sets up a charade pretending their world has not changed by hiding all evidence of capitalism in their midst.
