A con man (Erich von Stroheim) makes a good living by extorting money from rich women. In his latest scheme, he poses as a Russian count and rents a Monte Carlo villa with his two associates (Maude George and Mae Busch). When a wealthy American diplomat (Rudolph Christians) arrives in Monaco, the blackmail con begins via the diplomat's naive wife (Miss DuPont).
