Rocky decides to change his ways, but McQuaid has his own plans for Rocky and does not hold back in his efforts to rid Rocky of Mary's influence–he even kidnaps Mary's young brother, Arthur (Mickey Rooney). But, by story's end, all ends happily.

Marshal "Happy" Jack Martin (Hal Price) hires Tex to work undercover and help get the cattle through the fencing. They succeed, but not before a shootout during which Shooting Kid is killed.

Land office owner Carson (Karl Hackett) and his henchmen Wilson (George Chesebro) and Jingo (Lynton Brent) have been stirring up Chief Warcloud's (Chief Many Treaties) Indians to attack the wagon train because Carson hopes to scare the settlers so that he can get their land. When Tex (Tex Ritter) is accused of murdering one of the settlers, Ames (Del Lawrence), whose daughter Suzanna (Wanda McKay) he has been romancing, Tex escapes the lynching. He then rejoins Slim, wagon train leader Red (Red Foley), and Doye (Doye O'Dell) to foil Carson's evil plot. They succeed, and Suzanna joins Tex on a wagon train headed to the intended land at Beaver Creek.

Dorgan's gang captures Tex and holds him, along with rancher Graham (Frank LaRue) and his daughter Ruth (Dorothy Fay), captive. Tex escapes and sends for help from the Rangers who come to the rescue and arrest the rustlers.
