In Pee-Wee Herman's (Paul Reubens) second film, he awakens on his farm one morning and finds that a tornado has deposited a traveling circus on his property. Pee-Wee makes friends with the circus owner Mace Montana (Kris Kristofferson) and allows the circus to stay for awhile. He tries to get the attention of gorgeous trapeze artist Gina (Valeria Golino) by joining the circus as an acrobat. Good idea, but Pee-Wee's fiancee Winnie (Penelope Ann Miller) has other ideas about what Pee-Wee should do with his life. When the circus faces bankruptcy, Pee-Wee comes up with the idea, and they stage a three-ring spectacular–starring Pee-Wee.

Based on Peter Maas' biography, this film tells the story of Frank Serpico (Al Pacino), a New York undercover cop, who tries to get to the bottom of corruption in his police force. Accepting payoffs from gambling operations and drug rings is an accepted practice for his fellow officers, but Serpico refuses to be part of the "game," and his fellow officers ostracize him. Now, Serpico is frustrated and goes to the editors of the "New York Times." A scandal results, and Serpico testifies in court–all of which results in Serpico becoming the enemy of his fellow officers and the criminal world, as well. Pacino was nominated for the Oscar as Best Actor.
