Grant (Gordon Pinsent) and Fiona (Julie Christie) have been married for more than 40 years when Grant notices that Fiona has trouble remembering things. She is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and decides it is time to move into Meadowlake nursing home. Meadowlake's rules allow new patients no visitors for the first 30 days. Grant honors the rule, returns for a visit after the orientation period, and is devastated when he realizes that Fiona does not remember him. Even more difficult to face is the fact that Fiona's affections have transferred to a fellow patient: mute, wheelchair bound Aubrey (Michael Murphy). Now, Grant must gradually accept that loving is also letting go. The film received two Academy Award nominations including Best Actress (Christie). 1 User Review

During the performances, Hedwig wittily muses about the circumstances behind a life choice for surgery to change him from a boy into a girl. Great music, great humor, great film.
