Absolutely thrilling. Although the movie itself may be bad in quality, the acting is ridiculously, excuse the expression, mesmerizing. Alan Rickman is flawless as always and his co stars are, although minor in comparison, great as well. If you are a fan of costume dramas and/or Alan Rickman, this movie is a must see.

This is one of my favorite westerns. I consider it to be outstanding. The uncut version is best. Usually when they show it on TV they cut out some of the best parts for time. Perhaps if someone other than Alan Rickman had played the role of Elliott Marston, the movie would be taken more seriously.

Watch it for yourself and see if you don;t thoroughly enjoy it!

The film received an Academy Award for Best Art Direction; two other nominations included Best Actor (Johnny Depp).
