Caruso falls in love with Dorothy (Ann Blyth), and, despite her father's (Carl Benton Reid) objections, they marry and live happily until Caruso dies when he is just 47 years old.

The girls help Bradley and Walker build a raft to escape the island, but an explosion in Lujan's solar furnace almost wrecks the island. The blast does attract the attention of Australian authorities, and now the survivors wait for their rescue.

When they reach the grave, they discover that the remains are no longer there. Pherides decides to track down the grave robbers and, in the process, hears stories from superstitious Kyra (Helen Thimig) about a vampire Thea (Ellen Drew). Meanwhile, the island's inhabitants are dying. Are they victims of a plague caused by corpses on a nearby battlefield, or are the deaths being caused by Kyra? The closing scene of Mrs. St. Auburn (Katherine Emery) being buried alive brings a chilling climax to this horror story.

On the trek, they encounter floods, winds, and treacherous areas of heat and cold–along with prehistoric beasts and Count Saknussemm (Thayer David) who killed Carla's husband and has been striving to be the first person to reach the center of Earth. Special effects are what earn this film its three stars.

They are visited by Stella (Gail Russell) who tells them that her deceased mother claimed the house is haunted and that the ghosts intend to harm Stella. The previous owner is Stella's grandfather (Donald Crisp) who seems to know something but does not discuss it. Meanwhile, Roderick and Stella fall in love, and now they are determined to find the reasons behind the house's frightening supernatural activities. 1 User Review
