A Mormon wagon train, led by Elder Wiggs (Ward Bond), is headed for the Utah territory, and two horse traders–Travis (Ben Johnson) and Sandy (Harry Carey Jr.)–are hired to guide them there. Along the way they are joined by Dr. A. Locksley Hall (Alan Mowbray) and his medicine show troupe. Also joining them are Uncle Shiloh Clegg (Charles Kemper) and his family who have just murdered a clerk while robbing an express office. As if dealing with the outlaw Clegg family was not enough, the wagon train must also contend with the Indians along the trail in this great Ford film.
