Meanwhile, Nan falls for Simon (Colin Firth) who gets her pregnant and then dumps her. Nan plans to get Jack drunk and then claim that he is the father. Eve, who has fallen for Aidan (Aidan Gillen), catches on to Nan's plot and reveals all, which allows Jack and Benny to continue their romance.

In this film, 1990s' Russia is chaotic and filled with scheming military officers and an underworld syndicate. Great scene alert: Bond rolling a tank over St. Petersburg's cars.

There were major problems with the planned marriage: Inge was German and a socialist, and Norwegian/American Olaf and his Norwegian farming neighbors had problems accepting a woman from the country with which America had just fought a war. Even the Lutheran Minister Sorrensen (John Heard) refused to marry them. These and other trials and tribulations of immigration rise to the fore, but as time passes the love story of Inge and Olaf ends happily.

This even includes the X-Men who attend Charles Xavier's (Patrick Stewart) school that trains mutants to peacefully exist. Because the government believes that the X-Men are responsible for the attack, the President appoints military scientist William Stryker (Brian Cox) to investigate the school. Stryker uses foul means to get information from the X-Men's old foe Magneto (Ian McKellan) and leads an attack on the school. Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) is the only adult at the school for the time being, and his overwhelming job is to defend the school and save the students as the war escalates between the mutants and humans.
