Previously, Sainte Colombe had returned home and learned that his wife had died. He built a small home and planned to dedicate his life to his daughters and his music. The story is told in flashbacks as Marais recalls his past and his respect for his mentor.

As the years pass, Patrick (now played by Nicolas Chatel) still loves Marie-Jose (now played by Sarah Grappin) and the American way of life, but his rebellious nature results in tragedy. Not a flattering look at Americans.
